The Arizona Capitol Museum was honored to have Frank Ybarra’s work on display from late 2019 – May 2020.

Frank Ybarra is a local artist who was born and raised in Arizona. From a young age, he had a keen interest in art, drawing on paper bags from the grocery store. His admiration for art grew during his studies at East High School and eventually he majored in the profession at Scottsdale Community College and Arizona State University.

While attending school, Ybarra perfected his now popular simplistic, geometrical painting style. Many of his pieces showcase a variety of landmarks from the Valley as well as the Southwest. His work has been on display at numerous local and national galleries, earning several awards for his contribution to the art community, which included the Arizona Governor’s Art Award in 2016. He was also commissioned to create works for Arizona’s centennial celebration in 2012.
